The Daily Grind: Are you a ‘leaver’ in MMORPGs?

If there’s one you never wanted to be labeled in classic Guild Wars, it was “leaver” — the kind of person who’d leave a group partway through a mission, thereby dooming seven other people to have to exit and begin again with a replacement, losing all of their clearing until then. Nobody was as hated as leavers.

Subsequent online games, from MMORPGs to MOBAs and shooters alike, have instituted penalties for leaving dungeons or PvP matches, for ragequitting and destroying the fun of the whole group.

For today’s Daily Grind, I’m wondering — do you ever ragequit? What kind of penalties for AFKing-out of group content or combat deters you from bailing out on other people? What penalties do you just shrug off? Are you… a leaver… or will you stick out an annoying group until the bitter end?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
