Star Trek Online brings the duty officer system to consoles

As we well know by now, a console edition of a PC MMORPG usually doesn’t contain all of the same features and updates. There’s always patch lag to consider as updates wind their way to release, as well as the difficult work of modifying PC features for a console.

So while Star Trek Online has reportedly seen success on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it has been missing some of the elements seen in its big brother on the PC. One of these used to be the duty officer system, however this is changing soon as the feature is headed to consoles “soon.”

For the unfamiliar, the duty officer system is a strategy minigame in which players accumulate unseen NPCs and can dispatch them on real-time missions that rake in XP and other rewards. The “doff” system, as it is informally called, can be very lucrative, especially in leveling up one’s character. You can read more about it on the official site.
