Neverwinter makes a big to-do about its newest lockbox mount

In lockbox vernacular, there’s usually something called a “chase” item. This is the ultra-rare, ultra-desirable reward that just about no one will ever see unless an obscene amount of money is spent on tons of lockboxes. Neverwinter is making a big production about its latest chase item, a Celestial Stag mount, in not one but two new blog posts on the subject.

Made out of stars and dashed hopes, the Celestial Stage is among the fastest mounts in the game and offers a huge bonus to regen and recovery while raining the heavens down on its enemies. The May 2nd lockbox will also have a (tiny) chance of paying out an artifact that summons the spirits of the nine founders of the city to attack foes.

In other Neverwinter news, Cryptic has partnered with game rewards site Uproar to feature its fantasy MMO as one of the titles in which players can earn free goodies. There’s allegedly a “free gift” for Neverwinter that can be claimed by players who sign up to the service.

I’ll pass, Neverwinter has given me enough dashed hopes already.

It’s sad that the $ made from these cheap money grabs > then player backlash.

Shame, Neverwinter’s really quite a good game aside from their lockbox shenanigans. I’m not particularly passionate about the lockbox thing but they really go way over the top with it.

Chase items… chasing me away from games with their lockbox and heavy handed cash grab nature since, well, they were first implemented.

As for the dashed hopes thing, I suggest these people start playing the Lotto. It has better odds.

Not gonna lie, I think it is pretty cool and would totally be willing to purchase it is available for a reasonable price ($25 or less) in the store.

As a lockbox item, I’ll give it a hard pass. In the past I’ve given in and purchased keys, but once I saw the actual ( or at least fan estimates) chance to get the top tier items I stopped bothering. Especially in neverwinter where it feels like the non-top tier stuff is trash. Closest I’ll go is buying and selling keys to buy it off the auction house, at least then I have a solid idea of the cost.

Still, reminds me of an impossible bloodline sorceror in pathfinder. At the capstone anytime your internals are visible, such as from cuts, etc, your internals appear to be made of non-euclidean clockwork, or mini-galaxies.

Because nothing says shameless whale like tooling around on a lockbox only mount.

They’ve always put massive stats on lockbox-only mounts, so the only realistic way to get them is to buy tons of currency with cash (we’re talking over $100) and get it from AH. The whole game is entirely based on lockboxes and cash if you want the best stats.

Ummm, No.

You dont get the “best stats” from lockbox items. This is just a mount effect, other mounts have different and or similar effects, and can be earned in game. While yes you can earn cool items and mounts from the lockboxes, and yes some come with cool effects, that is not the “best stats” items in the game and the game has never required you to buy lockboxes to BiS your characters.

Please go troll another game you actually know something about.

I played this game a lot, and you’re talking shit. The best stats are on lockbox mounts.

Really the only thing this game has going for it:more shit to blow your money on. It sure as he’ll isnt fun gameplay or interesting stories. I got bored during winter break and leveled a toon to 66 and was like that’s it? A couple ten second cutscenes and the same queues ad infinitum with nothing but gear grind and cash shop purchases to look forward to with a heavy emphasis on RNG for everything. Game is garbage. DDO is such a better DnD experience.
