BioWare confirms eventual beta for Anthem, advises patience

Maybe in this era of unpredictable development cycles, early access, and soft launches, the confirmation that a game will actually get a beta test is noteworthy. So in case you were, for whatever reason, doubting that BioWare’s upcoming multiplayer Anthem would leapfrog over beta and deprive you of a testing experience, worry no longer.

Game Director Jonathan Warner emerged on Twitter this week to stoke fans for the project and encourage them to be patient. “It’s been an intense couple of months,” he posted on September 26th. “The world continues to grow and develop.”

In response to players asking about beta testing and when they will see more of the game, Warner dropped a few tidbits. “Yeah we’ll have a beta,” he writes to one fan. Then, to another: “Remember, we are still a distance out. Too soon for details but will provide more when the time is right.”

I just watched Anthem’s gameplay video, yeah three months late, but still. Wow. It’s so amazing. The corn thing was so stupid I didn’t even think to actually check the teasers out. Just wow. Wish they wouldn’t dumb down the visuals and release it as badass as it looks on that video.

Since selling out to Electronic Arts, Bioware has systematically dismantled every ounce of good will and reputation associated with the brand

Really looking forward to this game. It looks to be checking the boxes for the type of game I’ve wanted for awhile. A true, skyrim-like immersive, 4-player co-op RPG. I don’t care if it takes another full year+ till this game releases, I just hope its solid when it is released.

Don’t tell people to be patient when you announced the game too early.

Came to this thread to see all the bitching in the comments. Wasn’t disappointed.

I really hope I live long enough to one day not come into an article’s comment section just to see grown ass folk griping and complaining about every game that has ever been made.

This would be a valid stance had they NOT done something worthy of having people gripe over. I for one am glad I do not live in a world where people are complacent when games companies take them for granted and treat them poorly but instead speak up and say that isn’t alright.

It is always preferavble to be the wolf than the sheep ;)

I care about this as much as I do about Destiny, which is zero. I’ll be an interested observer seeing how they screw this up. Zero faith after the Andromeda debacle.

You sure do look like you care. You cared enough to click, read, and comment.

Sorry [not sorry] EABioware – but ME:Andromeda was the absolute end of blind trust in Bioware products.

NO PRE-ORDERS – EVER going forwards. (I don’t care what the exclusives).

ALL their titles are going to have to run the multiple gauntlets of trusted game-site review write-ups, YouTube reviews and forum investigations before I potentially even think of buying.

70%+, while not great, isn’t as. Most companies would take 70-80% rating.

I’m sure they will miss your pre-order though. I bet it keeps their developers up at night.

Patience. Is that what their going with now? How about, “bullshit”. Let’s go with that.

So, in a world where BW spent the better part of 3 years working on technology that was never realized in MEA. A world so mismanaged that the real work to save MEA began 18 months before release. An atmosphere so dysfunctional that animations more attune to an undergrad programming project were green lit. Patience is what what is warranted?

Bullshit, Mr. Warner. Yeah, Montreal is gone. Yours isn’t the same studio. BUT it is the same management group that screwed their own devs by releasing a mediocre MEA accepting the bugs, crap story, and circus animations. It is the same leadership that decided to burn one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history down to the ground… twice.

Welp. I don’t believe you Mr. Warner. Your company doesn’t deserve my loyalty. Maybe, Anthem will be a great game. And maybe, just maybe, one of your executives will remember ME fans. But right now, I will stick with calling it bullshit.

You don’t deserve my patience.

Well hopefully this doesn’t get screwed but by stupidity and PC-gone-awry. Hopefully this will also have a good story to get me invested and great gameplay to keep me going.
