The Repopulation preps for ‘massive’ patch next week with world bosses and fishing tournaments

12

Mark your calendars for next Wednesday, November 8th, because this is the day that The Repopulation will get back on the patch train once more.

This “massive” Patch 15.10.1 is primarily focused on improving the game’s engine and stability, but Idea Fabrik’s wall of patch notes tell a story of numerous other tweaks and other added features. Choice bits that are coming include world bosses, tournament fishing, smaller enemy camps, audio for synthetic instruments, a player talent show system, generic town cleanup tasks, a low-rez textures option, and 57 new profession titles.

Players returning to The Repopulation to check out this patch will not need to create new accounts, as old account info should have been transferred over to the new system.

“Now it’s up to everyone else to help test and move this alpha forward as we work on the next patch A01, which includes 10.2,” the team said. “More details for this will be coming up in the future.”

For anyone following this from here, they’ve managed to mess things up with the patch and now it’s being delayed by 4 hours : http://steamcommunity.com/app/322300/discussions/0/1482109512302209901/

The actual impact of the hot fixes that were implemented for the 10.1 were mostly clean up.
It’s funny because 1) in software development terms, that’s not what “hot fix” means; 2) a “clean up” is semantically not an impact in this context, but an action.

When the dev sounds like they don’t really understand what they’re doing, you’re in for a fun ride. Hopefully the technical folks are a bit more precise in their understanding of the topics at hands.

And the she even manages to tell the guy to stop talking about that topic in the end, basically, lol. Nice attitude.

That being said: good luck for tomorrow. And the days after that…. ;)

Personally I think this attitude of punishing the developer if they make us angry / simply disappoint us is sooooo counter productive. Cant we just stick to the games rather then “the politics?” First we hate idea fabrik for what happened with the repopulation, then we hate the devs after they essentially gave us a whole free game to apologize for what was not even their fault and we the players tried to kill both just because.

I mean with all due respect at the time of writing of this comment every single comment is negative and essentially proclaiming they should just shut it all down. Why? because the game is bad? nope, just because we dont like Idea Fabrik. Seriously people why? what is this hate really getting anyone? Same story with Fragmented, First people bombarded them with negative comments, not because of issues with fragmented but because repopulation…. then after essentially driving any potential customer away with negative comments we complain they have abandoned the game potentially. What do people expect happens? Do they believe the devs will keep working for nothing just to support a game they gave away mostly for free?

I really believe this attitude needs to change. Dont want to trust them fair enough, its your right, dont buy their next product but unless there is an issue of fraud I honeslty dont think its fair to judge the developer rather then the game. Because at the end if we decide to go on a crusade to damage developers like this the only result to come out of it if we succeed is, people loose their jobs, we loose a game. And this is crucial just think about developers that actually worked on the repopulation, first they had to go through the whole idea fabrik episode. They though they had a stroke of luck when Fragmented seemed an effort that would ultimately save their job only to have it snatch away (most likely) by players actions… the same people they were ultimately working for in reality. its tragic really.

If Idea Fabrik wants to save the game they bought / stole, they need to advertise it aka pump money in it to counter the bad publicity they have largely created themselves.

I don’t believe the game is beyond salvage – look how successful the Venetians have been with the bones of apostle Mark which they stole from Alexandria ;) – but it needs money, it needs publicity and a bigger development team.

Lol.

Is it still that crappy Hero engine? Why, yes it is.

Is Idea-Fab still calling the shots? Indeed they are.

Seems pointless at this point. Between the disappointment of AnB when it comes to the transfer to unreal and putting out fragmented to the sketchiness of IF acquiring the game after figuratively holding it hostage, there is just no good will left to burn.

They should just let this project Rest In Peace (this is coming from a backer). I’d be shocked if could get any large concurrent player numbers now.

Hell, they even banned holy avenger, one of the few people who had defended and white knighted the project both before and after IF took over.

Lol I said the same thing about Holy Avenger.

That guy was so into the repopulation and dedicated to defending it, even against completely valid criticism, that to me it’s shocking they banned him.

I was reading some of the stuff he was posting at the end (before ban). He was pretty pissed at them.

sounds like alot of the stuff that was being held back by anb for that long delayed engine patch that idea fabrik blamed on anb (despite other partners in that program also waiting on the patch with similar issues to repop).

still scummy. was half considering asking them to delete my account when i read this and checked out their dead ass forums.
