PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds moves over one million Xbox One units
Two days, one million copies sold. It’s just another record for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ mantle.

The battle royale shooter moved over a million units during the game’s first 48 hours on the Xbox One, according to VG247. PUBG began selling on the console on December 13th. These sales are no doubt helped by a current promotion in which Microsoft is bundling the $30 game with the purchase of Xbox One X consoles. This promotion ends on December 31st.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has racked up massive sales on the PC this year and shattered several world records. The title is on its way to China, which will no doubt help to add more piles of money to its Scrooge McDuck vault.

Despite the major performance issues I think this was a very clever investment by Microsoft.

Anything to close the gap between Xbox and PS4 is good for competition.

God damn, a million units for a horrifically buggy game?

As someone who is ACTUALLY playing the game on Xbox1x I can say that it has it’s issues, but is fun as heck, My experience is no where near as bad as being reported.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKFKSDudWIE Yeah, I mean, if you like running at less then 25 FPS be my guest. Personally, I find even 30 fps pretty rough at times, especially in an FPS with PS2 level graphic settings. It is fine to enjoy it, but don’t deny that the game is in bad shape / no where near release.

I mean, it runs like trash on PC too.

I just cannot for the life of me understand the craze behind such a buggy, unpolished, thinly veiled rush-job of a game. Despite its novelty aspects which I can appreciate. My friends only play PUBG and the Blizzard catalog so I hear plenty. I do not play either and every time they talk about PUBG it sounds like their sessions include fighting off the bugs as well as other survivors like 90% of the time. To each their own I guess, but if I was even remotely following PUBG on PC and planned to purchase on XB1X, I wouldn’t.

How a game that’s running textures that would look at home on a PS1/2 (at least on the base Xbox version), with framerates regularly dipping into the low teens (on both the base and One X models), input latency that can get as high as tenths of a second, and a host of other technical issues can have sold that much is beyond me. Especially considering The Coalition and the internal Microsoft advanced tech team worked on the port. Oh yeah, and if you plug in a keyboard you can still bring up the PC menus to look at stuff like the graphical presets they’re using, even if they’re not all the exact presets in-place in the game.

It’s insanely frustrating to see a game like this launch with strong first party support, while other games can’t pass certification due to something like a minor text bug or a rare crash. This game is pretty much a technical disaster on console right now : /

Ehhh, I think the free game with the Xbox One X certainly helps. We will see what kind of units they move after the 31st. Personally, I would not count any of those sales yet.

We will see how it does when it is 30$ standalone and people are freaking out about the piss poor performance for a live game. Yes, it will be released at that point. Xbox One X is also a pretty powerful machine, to think it runs at 20ish FPS is pretty unacceptable.

This game is a strange phenomenon at this point. It doesn’t really do anything to stand out as it still runs poorly on PC. When it released it was probably the best of these games, but that says nothing since previously the best one was a bad / underdeveloped game as well. At this point I am sure sales are dwindling due to not many people being left to sell the game to (lol) and Fortnite is free / much more stable.

This game seems to be the product of the creator being a reputable dude in the desperation genre of Battle Royale type games combined with Twitch. Twitch sold this game, no doubt. It would never have even caught Microsoft’s attention if it wasn’t for Twitch.
