Project Gorgon patches in the Red Wing Casino, buffs pets, and tweaks storage

Project Gorgon’s big update this week has two key parts. The first? Well, Elder Game is inserting gambling into the game, but not the lockbox kind; it’s a real casino.

“The Red Wing Casino is now open! You can find the entrance to this “teleportation-accessible luxury resort destination” in Rahu. (And perhaps there are easier ways …) To help us test the games in the casino, type the command /redeem RedWingTickets in chat to receive some free game vouchers!”

The other core component of the patch sounds mundane – “storage cleanup” – but it should also make shopping and crafting much easier, plus newbies will be encouraged to hoard less gear than before, and there’s more storage dotting the game in general.

EG also notes that it’s tweaked monster critical hits, buffed pets, added new work orders, adjusted problem spells, and fixed some other bugs. Critically, “The cow ability Chew Cud now only consumes regular Grass, and not other grasses such as Evil Grass or Barley,” the studio says with a straight face. “This is because chewing something besides regular Grass is pretty much always a mistake, and sometimes a tragic one (like when you chew up your Eternal Greens).”

My excitement quickly faded after experiencing the update over the weekend.

The games are very underwhelming. Completely RNG + luck-based, and the rewards aren’t worth playing for. A relaxing distraction with no purpose, but the casino as a travel hub and storage is A+.

Monsters being able to crit over level 30 is the worst change though. They implemented spike damage that was already in the game, in the form of Rage attacks, which combined can easily one-shot most players (Critical Rage attack). But, this scales with mob level, and bosses have an extra 5% chance. They might as well given everything level 65 and up a random “Deathtouch” attack, because EVERYTHING has about a 10% chance or greater to land a critical hit. There are some level 80 mobs in Gazluk and they have nearly a 1/5 crit chance. It’s devastating for anyone not already a high-DPS or ranged.
