Fortnite: Epic announces sandbox Creative mode, streamer donates $164,000 in tourney prize money

[This has now been confirmed and officially announced – see below for update.] It looks as if you’re getting some Fortnite Game Awards announcements early thanks to (what we’ll assume is) an accidental upload from Fortnite influencer Lachlan. The video, now taken down but helpfully mirrored all over for folks who like spoilers, previews a third mode for the absurdly popular game, dubbed Creative Mode, separate from the Battle Royale and Save the World components. As Eurogamer describes it, the mode is basically a construction sandbox akin to MineCraft’s creative mode, a map where you can build to your heart’s content without actually needing to farm mats first. Even better, it’s pretty likely this is coming with Friday’s seasonal updates.

And now, a feel-good story for you: Twitch streamer Kristin “KittyPlays” Valnicek, who along with her partner Chandler Riggs of Walking Dead fame won $250,000 placing third in the Fortnite Pro Am Charity Tournament in L.A., reportedly donated her entire half and then some to to the SPCA in her hometown of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. (If you’re wondering why Kelowna sounds so familiar, it’s because we just had another story out of the same city: Club Penguin’s impending sunset.)

Update
Welp, looks like Epic decided if the cat was out of the bag, there was no sense trying to stuff it back in the bag. Fortnite Creative is indeed on the way.

It officially launches December 13th, though battle pass owners get it this week.
