Elder Scrolls Online promotes a new loremaster and plans a pet rock for the cash shop

Big changes are afoot in Elder Scrolls Online this week, starting with the anointing of a new loremaster on the team. You might recall that the game’s previous lore wrangler, Lawrence Schick, left the company in early February. Well now the role has passed on to another capable hand: Leamon Tuttle.

“[Tuttle] has been working on the ESO team for 8+ years and has spent 6 years designing content for the game,” ZeniMax posted. “He was the principal writer on both Clockwork City and Murkmire. We are very excited to have him move into this role!”

In other ESO news, the game’s cash shop got a major refresh, with plenty of items coming in for the month of March. Subscribers can grab themselves a free Sheogorath statuette, while everyone else can scope out the costumes, hairstyles, motifs, furniture, houses, and personalities. Also, there’s a novelty stick horse mount, and the less said about that, the better. Players can also buy the new Wrathstone DLC pack for the PC on the store, while console gamers are going to need to wait until March 12th for that option. The star of the update, however, will soon be a pet rock.

“Tired of pets that follow you everywhere? Fed up with feeding them? Step up to Pebble Pal, the pet that’s a … rock. The Pebble Pal pet will be available in the Crown Store on all platforms for a limited time during the Jester’s Festival, from March 21 to April 2 at 10am EDT.”

A lot of games have them! Still cute! It’s not a competition. :)

While ESO itself is a great game, the cashshop and monetization is nothing but predatory.

As a Korean MMO player, this is a huge exaggeration.

I find ESO’s cash shop incredibly optional. The only thing in the store that can have an impact on my gameplay is the riding skill lessons, which I can get for gold in-game from any town stable if I’m willing to put in the time. Everything else is cosmetic fluff.

It’s quite a long time.

Not really man, there’s literally nothing there I have any interest in buying; I have crowns laying around from my sub that are collecting dust.

Also, there’s a novelty stick horse mount, and the less said about that, the better.

The bad news is the dragon stick horse is the one being put up for crate gems. But the good news is the other two stick horses will be a direct offering of crowns. I hope! Okay… that’s conjecture mixed with hope… that I hope is true because if not, I’ll be one sad rock if I don’t get a stick horse. :(

I have seen a medicine
That’s able to breathe life into a stone,
Quicken a rock, and make you dance canary
With spritely fire and motion…

A rock by any other name would smell as sweet ….
