Time to poke on home.

Have you caught them all in Pokemon Go? Quite possibly not, some of them are really hard to catch. But you’d probably like to keep the ones that you have caught already so that you need not catch them again and/or so you can keep using the ones you caught and already quite like. Luckily, the upcoming Pokemon Home service will facilitate precisely that, so you can focus on different tasks in your games. Like making them fight, mostly.

Pokemon Home will integrate with the series games on the Switch as well as the Pokemon Bank service and Pokemon Go, allowing you access to trading anywhere in the world so long as you have your phone with you. (And a signal, if that needs to be specified.) So now your monsters will be accessible across a wider suite of gamesand you can pretend that the next business-type guy you see with an earpiece swiping at his phone is figuring out how to store his new Rhydon.

Conspiracy theory based off the Pokemon Sleep announcement.

Nintendo is still mad that their foray into more health-focused products during the Wii era (not talking about the games, but the peripherals etc. that never came to market) and they still have a desire to get into that market for some reason. They’re having a second go with it by leveraging Pokemon now. Think about it (this is assuming all player data is sent to Nintendo, so if it’s not that crushes this theory).

They’re pulling immense amounts of location and movement data from users with Pokemon Go. They can tell when you’re in a car vs. walking or doing other activities, where you go, how long you stay etc. That’s a huge amount of “activity” data.

Now they’ll be able to pull data about your sleep cycles, another important data point when it comes to health care.

I’m eagerly awaiting the “Pokemon Eats” game that will track what and when you eat, including amounts, and the “Pokemon Vitals” game which will feature a wearable device that tracks all your health stats.

And then they’ll start opening Pokemon Center themed hospitals, staffed with actual doctors who will treat all their patients like Pokemon. We haven’t gamified the delivery of health care sufficiently yet, so clearly this is a play at that.

CLEARLY THIS ALL MAKES COMPLETE AND TOTAL SENSE AND IS IN NO WAY A CRACKPOT THEORY. NO WAY AT ALL.
