With all of the things whirring around BlizzCon this year, perhaps some games got lost in the shuffle, like WarCraft 3 Reforged. Just in case other things drew your attention away, there’s a handy video synopsis of the panel that the RTS title’s devs had which offered plenty of tidbits for fans of the venerable RTS.
The video plays like a YouTube stereotype with jump cuts to important highlights, but it also gets to the heart of what fans can expect out of WarCraft 3 Reforged. The devs spoke about the addition of 2,200 unique character models and higher resolution CGI cinematics to give the game some notable visual polish, but also promised that units will still play as they always have. In terms of play, online matches will factor in race-based MMR to let players experiment with different races, while the single-player campaign will have a lower difficulty option for those who want to experience the game’s story but aren’t the strongest armchair commanders.
The panel also offered a number of updates for the game’s map creation tools, including the Hero Skin system, new camera tools in order to help map makers craft their own cinematics, and the use of Tower Defense towers. Players can also look forward to a number of community maps in the 1v1 map pool to be packed in to the game. The video then closes out with a sneak peek at one of the game’s cinematics.
