It’s not a secret that Final Fantasy XIV is doing very well for itself, especially in light of one of its most popular expansions ever. While we still don’t have an idea on just what that means in terms of active players or subscriptions, the recent 14-hour-long broadcast announced that over 18 million registered users can be counted.
The reveal was made at the beginning of the Live Letter segment and was also apparently celebrated with a Japanese party ball. While this doesn’t obviously give us any indication of how many of those registered users are actively subscribed to FFXIV, this number does represent a jump upwards from the 16 million registered users touted during the Shadowbringers trailer that played during this year’s Game Awards.
If you happened to miss out on what transpired during the Live Letter, our own Eliot Lefebvre happened to be watching and tweeted out a thread of what unfolded. He’ll also offer a more complete recount in the Wisdom of Nym column coming this afternoon, so stay tuned!
