Blizzard revamps and rereleases Warcraft III Reforged today

Nobody tell my husband, but Blizzard is officially dropping Warcraft III Reforged today, so you can relive your real-time strategy childhoods all over again. Launch is this evening at 6 p.m. EST.

“Warcraft III: Reforged is a stunning reimagining of the revolutionary real-time strategy game that laid the foundation for Azeroth’s most epic stories. It is a remake in the truest sense, featuring a thorough visual overhaul, a suite of contemporary social and matchmaking features, and more. Command the Night Elves, Undead, Orcs, and Humans as alliances shift and armies clash in this timeless real-time strategy game.”

Of course, none of this is free, so you’ll be buying the game all over again for $29.99 or $39.99, depending on how many extras you’ve just got to have. But if you’re into this, it’ll be worth it for the new graphics, cutscenes, matchmaking population, and the new custom maps you know clever people are going to come up with.

We’re guessing nobody reading this needs a refresher on the races, but in case you do, Blizzard did put up some behind-the-scenes pieces on the Undead, Humans, and Night Elves.

So apparently it’s got serious problems like bugs, not living up to what was promised, and its even altering the installation of those that have the old version and didn’t buy reforged if those reports are true. Not good, not good at all.

Well my Blizzard Boycott still stands. I loved Warcraft 3, especially the Frozen Throne expansion, but there is no way I am supporting Blizzard after the Blitzchung bungle. It doesn’t hurt that it looks like the “finished” product is a bit short of the 2018 teaser claims:

Nobody cares about your boycott.

Yet he’s not alone.

Never said he was alone. There are a lot of people who were upset about how Blizzard handled it, I was one of them.

But they totally admitted their wrong doing. (which of coarse was picked apart even further) I mean nothing they could have said would have made it better.

But a boycott is kind of silly if you ask me, especially when people mention it like a badge of honor.

You can think it silly. Short of becoming an activist shareholder, or finding some legal standing to sue, how else can I stand against the obvious harm caused? It is not just Blitzchung for speaking out, but also the commentators who had nothing to do with it, and of course the oppressed citizens of Hong Kong.

Simply, a capitalist company respects money, and by withholding mine, I can say they get no support from me to censor or oppress others. I vote with my dollars, you may vote differently with yours, and we shall see how the markets respond.

Warcraft 3 was one of my favourite games, but I’ve heard nothing but terrible things about reforged. From cut content, to it being a buggy and barely playable mess, I’m glad I stopped pre-ordering Blizzard games so I don’t need to beg for a refund.

Edit: It also looks like Blizzard has stealthily taken away features from vanilla WC3.. If you can even access it that is, since it looks like they removed it from the launcher to try and get people to buy reforged. :/

Features that were removed from original Warcraft 3 with the launch of Reforged from warcraft3

Heh. Thanks for the post. I will only be partaking once the game is in the bargain basement bin or a major price mark down. Custom campaigns were something that I really enjoyed among other things.

Although, who is to say they aren’t going to add these things later, I guess. There is no excuse for a buggy mess though.

I missed W3 the first time (wasn’t really into RTS at the time). The updated graphics are giving me the inspiration to see the stories that made WoW firsthand, rather than reading excerpts or watching vids. Looking forward to it. Also looks like it will be good for modders too.

I loved Warcraft 3 back in the day. If there’s anything that would get me to give Blizzard money, this would probably be the thing. But I won’t. I can’t get excited about anything Blizzard does anymore. I just can’t.

Nope. It looks like a farted out gap filler to pad a rrrrrrough quarter. I have no faith for modern blizzard to do it justice even if all their gross shit from the last few years wasn’t putting me off giving them money anyway. I can replay the original any time i want and do every other year with friends.

Is this releasing with minimal marketing, or am I just outside the Blizzard bubble?
