It’s time for Tyrians to celebrate Pride in Guild Wars 2. Starting today, June 27th, the Tyria Pride 2020 community event is underway; it began for EU players at 10:00 a.m. EDT this morning and will repeat for NA players at 5:00 p.m. EDT. If you missed it today, you can swing by at both times on Sunday too, with the march starting off at Ebonhawke on Saturday and Lion’s Arch on Sunday.
Not only will this event celebrate the LGBTQ+ community that plays in GW2, but there will also be a fundraiser to benefit Rainbow Railroad, an organization that helps LGBTQ+ people escape from state-sponsored violence against them.
With that said, the fundraiser is half of what it normally seeks, as the organizers of the event are asking donors to consider donating to causes that benefit racial minorities and aid in the fight against police brutality. “Police violence was the reason for the very first Pride March, the Stonewall Riots. We cannot honor the legacy of the many black trans women and other […] POC who played a key role in LGBT Pride becoming what it is while simultaneously ignoring the systemic racism in so many of our communities,” reads the event post.
GW2’s official Twitter has also posted a little graphic to make it easier for participants to know when and where things are happening. Happy Pride, Tyria!
