In the latest newsletter from Ultima Online, players are treated to a number of advance plans written by Broadsword’s Bonnie Armstrong, chiefly looking forward to what’s next now that Publish 109 fully released in July.
One of the first talking points is regarding the treasure system as part of Treasures of Deceit, which lets players battle creatures in Deceit to obtain Artifacts of Undead Kin, which in turn can be exchanged for rewards. The system is currently soft-launched to players on Lake Superior, Sakura, Oceania, and Europa servers.
Another point focuses on the new event generation tools that let EMs get more creative with the types of monsters players encounter. Overall, there has been some reportedly solid feedback, while Armstrong promises that the devs are working on addressing issues with these new tools. Speaking of tools, the devs are also still hard at work introducing a dynamic quest system to UO, which promises to provide a full suite of content generation tools to “make Britannia feel as alive as ever.”
There are a few other community and game matters addressed in the newsletter (new dyes are on the way!), so it’s likely worth a read if you’re a fan of this particular sandbox.
