We haven’t heard much out of afrofantasy MMORPG The Wagadu Chronicles since it scored almost $200,000 in Kickstarter funding a month ago, but as it turns out, that’s because studio Twin Drums has been busy working on the game. The latest Kickstarter update covers efforts on the rainforest terrain, the island generation tool, and a tool that will “speed up the painting of environmental assets like the luscious grass you’ll eventually be running through in-game.”

“A TREEmendous amount of effort has gone into the research, conceptualisation and creation of visuals for our rainforest terrain. We are really happy to be able to show you a small glimpse of what we have in mind as well as the progress that our amazing art team has made so far with WIP overpaintings and 3D Assets.”

Twin Drums has also picked up three new developers; it promises updates to the RPG book and a questionnaire for backers soon. The rest of us can settle in for a wait, as the game itself isn’t expected until the end of 2022.
