File this one under first bizarre crossover of the year so far: Nintendo is releasing Animal Crossing: New Horizons branded makeup through Colourpop.
For my non-makeup-wearing folks out there, all you need to know is that Colourpop is one of the major inexpensive but quality fast-fashion-type brands for makeup and has been for the last several years. If you wear makeup right now, you probably already own some from Colourpop; I’ve been a fan since 2015 and own a stack of its eyeshadow palettes, probably what the company is best known for right now. The brand has teamed up with gobs of high-profile IPs – including Disney princesses, Star Wars, Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, and Sailor Moon – in the last couple of years, so this particular pairing is perfect. And I get to cover it on MOP. Bonus!
Launch for the Animal Crossing products is January 28th at 1 p.m. EST on the Colourpop website and on Valentine’s day at Ulta, and I can tell you from experience that this kind of thing sells out pretty quickly, so if you want it, be on time. According to makeup blog Temptalia, the collection includes four four-pan eyeshadow palettes, two blushes, a glitter pot, six lip products, and a specialty supershock shadow, all themed for the game.
