The Daily Grind: Do you have any clue what’s going on in your MMO’s storyline?

Nobody likes to look stupid, so many times we’ll keep our mouth shut instead of asking for clarification and explanation. I speak, of course, of the storylines of MMORPGs, which can absolutely lose us with their length and convoluted turns. Sometimes there’s so much time spend between narrative beats that we totally forget what happened in the past and who’s doing what.

I hate the feeling of being lost in the story, especially if the writers and devs have done a poor job in laying it out in a clear fashion. But it certainly happens. I love me some LOTRO, for example, but there have been plenty of times where you could have asked me what was going on in the main epic and I’d shrug and mumble something about Hobbits and Orcs and books.

Do you have any clue what’s going on in your MMO’s storyline right now? And if not, are you bold enough to admit it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
