Having a neat mount is great, but often you’ll see other players rocking the same mount, which might get into your uniqueness craw a bit. Luckily for you, Ashes of Creation is going to have an animal husbandry system in place, letting players breed their way to unique-looking animal mounts as demonstrated in a dev update livestream from this past Friday.
The stream included a video showcase from Steven Sharif showing off several different variants of the Dawnbreaker mount, each with different colors and patterns for wings, fur, and eyes, all of which were achieved through animal husbandry. The system will also allow for other traits to be developed further, such as glide capability; remember that flying mounts are only available to players who hold lord-level in-game titles.
The stream also showed off a new Terrapin Tortoise mount, which features a tree that grows on its back that changes visually with the in-game seasons and time of day. The stream also made a point that while this new visual tech is being applied to a mount, it will also have application to other parts of the game at large as well.
Finally, the stream showed off a development tool that lets the team easily create randomly arranged items on tabletops for more visual diversity, along with some fresh character art designs for creatures, armors, and racial sigils among other things. The full stream is embedded below, or you can take in a more brief synopsis video from YouTuber Reydann just below that.
