Star Wars: The Old Republic caused a great amount of design upheaval with last month’s launch of Legacy of the Sith — and BioWare isn’t close to being finished with sorting out the resulting mess.
In a new post on the forums, Design Director Chris Schmidt spoke to the vision the studio had to provide more repeatable content in the MMO with Update 7.0 — and how the reality of the expansion launch showed some flaws in said vision.
“The team worked hard to deliver on that vision, but when we saw how it was performing at scale (in a live environment), and especially taking your feedback into account, we decided to work on some changes that we believe will address many of the friction points in that vision,” he wrote.
To address some of the flaws with the current systems, Schmidt announced two big changes coming with the next patch: “In 7.0.1, we will not be making all veteran flashpoints available at level 15. Instead, we will retain each flashpoint’s existing level restrictions, and make all flashpoints available in group finder every week.”
On top of that, he added, “We will make all weekly missions for dailies and heroics available all the time. To compensate for the addition of all the extra weeklies, they will be repeatable two times per week as opposed to three as they are currently.”
