Starting out brand-new in an MMORPG, especially one not long on the market, is a thrilling and heady journey of discovery. However, such journey comes with the caveat that you will mess up, you will not understand all of the systems, and you will make forehead-slappingly bad decisions along the way.
This is why I love to read “what I wish I knew when I first started” threads on various forums and subreddits. They’re not only informative for those who come after, but they’re utterly relatable. I made a ton of silly mistakes in the early stages of various MMOs, such as investing too many points into Anarchy Online’s swimming skill or running back to dungeon entrances because I didn’t know that there was a faster shortcut to leaving.
What are some of the goofy or regrettable mistakes you made when you were starting MMOs back in the day — or even last week?
