The Daily Grind: What do you do about ‘underperforming’ groupmates in MMOs?

A while back, Visionary Realms posed a brutal question to Pantheon players: How do you handle underperforming people in your MMO groups? The question made me flinch because ug, I know some folks are the “kick ’em all and let the GMs sort it out” type, and I just can’t get behind that. I would legitimately rather lose than be that person. My time and sanity are precious, but so is my conscience.

I’m sure everyone else’s answer will depend on whether the person in question is a guildie or a stranger, or maybe what the content even is. I’d probably spend more time trying to help a guildie than a stranger, but I wouldn’t give up on a stranger immediately either just because of a wipe or some low DPS. Most people can be taught with a tiny bit of patience – and they appreciate the help too.
