Wine-blasting: This is when you throw pop rocks into wine. It’s considered trendier the more expensive the wine is and the cheaper the pop rocks are. Ideally, you want like a $1,000 wine and some pop rocks that were recalled so a guy literally paid you to take them. I don’t know who he is. He’s a guy. A guy, got it?
Force de luge: Wikipedia defines a luge as “a small one- or two-person sled on which one sleds supine and feet-first.” What a weird word, huh? Forgot what this trend was actually supposed to be, though. Gosh, I should have written it down and then looked up definitions, this always happens.
Emetic Doctor: So this one you just throw up. Like, a lot. Like a lot a lot. I recommend practicing in Justin’s yard.
Force de luge: No, I remembered now! This is where you use a nail gun to stick several planks to your left arm. You might need a friend to help you. What the heck is this? Why is this named after a luge?
Not doing trends: Yeah, that sounds right. That sounds right for 2023. What Are You Playing, let’s do this.
Bonus question: What’s your favorite form of entertainment outside of video games?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Exercise games getting/giving their usual workout, and then Splatoon 3 hard. Still struggling with Salmon Run groups, but I feel like I’ve got a few solid gear pieces built, including some 5-stars for grinding chunks.
Outside of games, I’m big on movies and starting to get into these shorter, limited-run series on Disney+ (I’m loving Andor, and She-Hulk ended in a surprising but very in-character manner).
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): A smattering of Star Wars Galaxies Legends and City of Heroes for me this weekend. I’m working on some new toons in the latter, but I also want to squeeze out some more autumn from the last weekend of Halloween.
At this stage, it’s probably DIY and hiking. This house is going to take years to fully rehab. I have a lot of little hobbies and obsessions, but my main chunks of free time not allocated to games and my kids usually goes there.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): Most of my major goals in Final Fantasy XIV have been hit, so that goes back burner in favor of a bit more New World noodling, Elite: Dangerous space trucking, and probably some simulated farming in Farming Simulator ’22. I’ll still peer back in to FFXIV to earn a level or two on my Ninja, though.
Outside of video games, YouTube videos are my go-to entertainment. Whether it’s goofy let’s plays or awesome music creators, I have a lot of options there.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Been enjoying Potionomics for obvious reasons, so I’ll probably be mostly playing that and some FFXIV periodically. That’ll round out my weekend pretty nicely, especially since next week is going to be quite the week.
There’s a lot of stuff I do outside of games, but most of it still winds up having some element of analysis going on; having said that, my favorite is probably movies both new and previously seen. I watch a lot of movies on my second monitor and I’m always happy to see more.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I got to the final boss in Moonscars so I’ll knock that out. It’s going to be a busy weekend with various Halloween parties so I don’t imagine I’ll get much time to play beyond that.
Bonus: I watch a lot of anime. Crunchyroll all the way.
Tyler Edwards (blog): I will likely continue as I have for the past few weeks, with New World and a bit of Eternal on the side. Maybe a bit of classic The Secret World to celebrate the Halloween season.
Bonus question: Probably listening to music.
