The Daily Grind: Who’s your favorite leader in an MMO world?

World Orlando Fontaine Warcraft, as always, is contractually obligated to show up here.

Everyone likes a dashing leader in the MMO space, but a lot of times those leaders aren’t very good at, well, leading. Bree and I occasionally giggle over Prince Rurik in the original Guild Wars, for example, and his consternation over his father trifling with doors when a bit more door-trifling might have avoided a lot of misery for him in the long run. But that doesn’t mean that everyone leading a faction or a town or whatever in an MMO is someone who should not be charged with leading teddy bears on parade.

The thing is that leaders tend to be people you see in a large number of expansions and storylines, just because it’s easier to hang stories upon the shoulders of leadership. Some of them are really good leaders you’re happy to follow as a player, some of them are garbage villains you love hating, and some of them are just so charmingly weird that you can’t help but remember them. So who’s your favorite leader in an MMO world? Not your favorite guild leader or whatever, but the fictional in-universe leader whom you’re most attached to?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
