In my several lengthy stints going through Final Fantasy XIV, I noted with wry amusement that there seemed to be a segment of that MMO’s community that was gradually going broke due to buying Phials of Fantasia — items that allowed you to change your character’s race. I kind of understand this, as I changed my own character’s race no less than three times due to the “grass is always greener” syndrome.
Of course, FFXIV isn’t the only MMO that allows for a paid or free race change, and I’m betting that there are quite a few of us that morphed our character into a completely different species to shake things up or fit that toon’s personality better.
