The Daily Grind: How often has your impulse to try a new MMO worked out?

Ladies.

The nature of my job means that I see a lot of MMOs crossing my radar on a daily basis. That’s just to be expected. This also means I get the urge to play a lot of different MMOs on a daily basis because I see something cool about a dozen games on a daily basis and so I find myself thinking, “Gosh, I should give that a shot.” And I sometimes do!

My success rate on these tries? Usually about a month of play followed by walking away, sometimes a couple weeks, sometimes about six.

By some metrics, these are pretty good numbers, especially since my investment in the game is usually around zero dollars. And it’s not like I’m actively looking for a new game to be my main game (I already have one of those). But I’m curious about other people, especially regular readers of our site who also probably get a nonstop diet of MMOs to try in their faces. How often has your impulse to try a new MMO worked out? Not an MMO you planned to play at launch, but a new game that crossed your radar from news or other sources? Have you found some great delights awaiting you?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
