A few weeks back, MOP’s Justin penned a piece arguing that the Burglar is the least-loved class in Lord of the Rings Online – and also its best-kept secret. While noting that rogues are usually pretty popular in MMOs and that they excel in particular in LOTRO’s exploration content, he suggests that the Burglar has been a little bit left behind in LOTRO in terms of both combat prowess and group desirability.

I’m willing to bet every MMO has a class like this, and I don’t just mean a class at the bottom of the roster (obviously, somebody’s always on the bottom rung). I mean a class that everyone including the devs know needs much more love – the kind of class that the contrarians seek out to play on purpose because it is almost universally understood to be a hot mess.

What’s the least-loved class in your most-loved MMO – and how would you go about fixing it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
