Today’s question is not about whether or not your MMO of choice delivers the endgame challenge level that you’re looking for; rather, it’s about what that challenge even is. Because, well, everyone has different ideas about that. Some people want endgame content to kick them up and down the curb, to be brutal and unforgiving, filled with the threat of failure, an environment where you could spend an hour trying a single encounter only to end with nothing actually accomplished beyond practice.
Other people want endgame content that not only doesn’t mean an hour of failure but doesn’t actually mean any failure at all; they want to kick back, relax, and enjoy the game at a calm pace without much risk that screwing up will actually end the encounter. Some people want something a bit higher but still not at the high-level “I’ve been trying for an hour” level of challenge. So what’s the ideal challenge level for you? What do you want your endgame challenges to look like in an MMO?
