Neopets’ ‘new era’ rolls on with events, updates, AMAs, livestreams, and an improved website

Back in July the long-running pet collecting MMO Neopets heralded “a new era” as it went independent, with new owners The Neopets Team (TNT) promising to “foundationally transform” the franchise into “a game that the Neopian community would embrace.” That transformation has indeed been unfurling over the past couple of months with several updates to both the game, its presentation, and its communication.

On the presentation side of things, Neopets has significantly updated its website, removing the old ’90s-era design with something more modern and much easier to navigate. This website houses several update posts including the game’s usual monthly newsletters, videos, and other announcements. The game’s Twitter has also seen a renewed lease on life with plenty of announcements draped across its feed.

Neopets’ YouTube channel has also been far more active recently, primarily with the Nosy Neopians livestream series, which most interestingly featured an AMA with TNT CEO Dominic Law, who talked about his history with the game, his general plans to extend the IP “into the next generation,” fixes that have been released now and planned for the future, and much more; that full video can be watched below the cut.

On the subject of those newsletters, September’s newsletter outlined updates like the Chocolate Ball event, new daily quests, and a call for beta testers for the upcoming mobile game Island Builders, while October’s post cast a light on convention appearances, the Faerie Festival, and (of course) some Halloween goodies.
