New World says it’s ‘watching the servers closely’ in anticipation of opening transfers

With the recent expansion craziness and subsequent opening of lots of new servers, New World has a juggling act ahead to figure out when it can allow players to roll on full servers and move characters between realms. In this week’s dev video, the team says that it’s watching population numbers “very closely” and once there is space, it will be opening those shards up to bring characters over.

Other topics covered by the video included the sand worm trial, a desire for new artifacts (coming!), a hope for new heartrunes (not coming!), plans for a “big” optimization initiative, and dual spec builds.

In a separate post, Amazon acknowledged that there’s a data issue with the influence race system that needs addressing: “We’ve implemented a mitigation measure as of tonight to reduce the recurrence of this issue until a permanent bug fix can be deployed in an upcoming patch.”
