I am generally not a fan of vehicles in MMORPGs. No, let me rephrase that. What I don’t like is when my character becomes a vehicle as a gimmick for a minigame or special combat or whatever. I hate it, honestly. You put all that work into a character only to have it vanish the instant you get into a space car or undersea tank or magical jetpack whatever it is.
But vehicles themselves as travel toys… look, cars are cool, and it doesn’t matter what genre. I remember the day that Star Wars Galaxies finally introduced vehicles – landspeeders and speederbikes, mostly – after half a year of making us run everywhere (which was not Star Warsy and iconic, let me tell you). People lost their minds. That was fun. Vrooooooooooooooom!
