RuneScape devs engage in a game jam while players are surveyed on 2024 priorities

RuneScape dished out its final weekly developer post of 2023 today, saying that the feature will return on January 8th after a holiday break. But that doesn’t mean the game itself will be dormant, as RuneScape’s Christmas Village and weekly buffs are scheduled to run through the new year.

Also in the meanwhile, Jagex’s team is engaging in a “game jam” that allows them to explore personal projects and community suggestions for a period. Of course, this comes with a caveat: “Game Jam projects take a significant amount of additional work to implement — not all Game Jam projects shown may make it into the game, and we can’t offer a timeline or guarantees of Game Jam content releases.”

Speaking of next year, Jagex brought back its “Community Hitlist” survey that asks RuneScape players what they think the studio should focus on in 2024. These include prioritizing bug squashing, adjustments to current content, and immersion-breaking fixes.

As for Old School RuneScape, that MMO’s Christmas event kicks off tomorrow along with a developer livestream.
