Throne & Liberty KR will bolster endgame with coop dungeons, dungeon finder, and less ‘forced content’

NCsoft’s Jong-ok Ahn is back on the official Throne & Liberty site with another producer’s update this week, this time talking about the Resistance event on Korean servers – specifically, how it’s failed.

“I will stop the Resistance event and think about it again,” he says in bolded purple text in the Google-translated memo. Essentially, the problem with the event was that it felt like a “forced content push” as players felt obligated to do the event to score new skills. The dev team saw it coming and “attempted to reduce the burden on users by setting the minimum score for skill acquisition low,” but that apparently didn’t stop the problem from escalating, so in the end, the team is granting all the skills to level 50 toons in addition to compensation.

NCsoft is also planning to reduce the competitive nature of Peace Zone events, rebalance field bosses, and shift focus to endgame 6-person cooperative dungeons; in fact, five such dungeons are en route to Korean players in March, followed by a dungeon-finder tool.

“The above PvE improvement and supplementation work is currently TL’s top priority. The goal is to provide a more open and free PvE experience for soloing and parties in PvE, which has often been a somewhat closed experience centered around guilds. We will organize our content so that you can focus on your own growth without the burden of having to participate in unwanted competition anymore.”

It’s all a bit granular to those of us on the other side of the ocean, as we have neither the game nor a new launch window for the game, but it’s the closest thing we have to current insight on the onward development of the MMO – and how NCsoft means to tend it.
