H A M B U R G E R

Ingredients:
0.25 lbs ground beef
1 slice of cheddar cheese (sharp)
16 oz aluminum soda can (full)
1 brioche roll
2 tsp ketchup or barbecue sauce
sliced onions, pickles per preference

Instructions

  1. Turn on a skillet over high heat. Melt butter for optimal cooking environment.
  2. Place hamburger in pan and set a timer for 2 minutes 30 seconds.
  3. When the timer goes off, flip the burger precisely once, then set the timer for 2 minutes 30 seconds again.
  4. Place soda can in microwave, still sealed, and set it for 30 minutes.
  5. Stand back to avoid electrical feedback. Wait until the can explodes.
  6. Extinguish any and all electrical fires that have started by smothering them with baking soda.
  7. Unplug the microwave as soon as it is safe to do so.
  8. Deactivate smoke alarms.
  9. Flip the burger once more and place cheese while turning off the burner. Wait approximately one minute.
  10. Answer What Are You Playing by indicating the type of soda used in addition to what MMOs you are playing this weekend.
  11. Place burger on bun. Apply sauce and vegetables to flavor.
  12. Give burger to the first emergency service person who arrives at your home because you turned your microwave into a hazard for no reason.
  13. Purchase a new microwave.

Bonus question: What movie do you find the most quotable?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): It’s both the Pokemon Go Sinnoh LA Tour and Splatoon 3 Splatfest weekend. I’ll be lucky if I have time for both!

Star Wars, as a whole, is far too easy to quote these days. I’ve got a bad feeling about everything. Jurassic Park works too though, as I know quite a few clever girls and rude people who forget the magic word.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’m gonna mix my time between City of Heroes and Star Wars Galaxies Legends – I know, I know, it’s been a bit for me in SWG, but I went back this week to check out the massive city patch, and I want to get my vendors back in working order.

Bonus: Probably the Indiana Jones movies, honestly. There’s so many one-liners I find myself randomly using. “How hard were you trying?” “I wrote it down so I wouldn’t have to remember.” “Because he didn’t take my advice.” “The trouble with her is the noise.” “He chose… poorly.” I guess it’s all in the delivery because they don’t work in text out of context, but if you know you know.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): It’s probably going to be more multiplayer Palworld over my weekend primarily, along with another peek back into New World purely because I have the urge to fire that one back up again. Also I want to see if the group finder stuff actually lets me enjoy a dungeon for once.

Bonus: One of my most quotable films would be Kung Pow: Enter the Fist purely because of the complete stupidity of it all. Though I also have to give a nod to the MST3K quotablility of Space Mutiny. In fact, if my bringing that up doesn’t start a thread of referential names for the film’s main hero in the comments, I’ll be mightily let down.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Got a little time in Final Fantasy XIV to get into and I should probably spend some time in World of Warcraft working on that trading post stuff, but quite frankly CoH manages to seem much more appealing basically all of the time. I’d say that I’m sorry for WoW, but frankly, it’d be fibbin’.

I think my favorite movie of all time is itself an intensely quotable movie, but most of the people reading this have likely never even heard of it. But there are some other great options ranging from Airplane! and its general joke delivery to the awkward grace of The Big Lebowski. Ultimately, though, I’m going to go with Mad Max: Fury Road, because how can you resist screaming “Witness me!” once you’ve seen it?

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m still puttering my way through Lord of the Rings Online‘s Umber on my Minstrel (and still quite lost in the process). Other than that, I’ll be dividing my time doing some zone mapping and questing in The Elder Scrolls Online and Guild Wars 2.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I’ll mostly be playing Harry Potter Magic Awakened but now that the previous seasonal event is over I’ve pulled back and only play a few times a day. Hopefully I’ll get a night into Ravendawn too. I got through level 15 but I haven’t been able to sit down with it for more than half an hour at a time which really limits the action.

Bonus: it’s going to be Princess Bride for me.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I will be logging into New World to claim my Spicy Hotpots from the event, and I’ve been dabbling with Overwatch 2’s Cosmic Crisis event, but the large majority of my free time will be devoted to Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. It’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from DONTNOD’s action games; the gameplay is forgettable, but the story is so gripping you won’t care.

Bonus question: The Fifth Element. Mool-tee-pass.

Pierre, patron: I will play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, the last game from DONTNOD, one of my favorite development studios, and Persona 3 Reload. I’m still on an MMO hiatus; I can’t explain it, but it’s probably because I don’t have enough time available for MMOs and they require more dedication and longer gaming sessions than solo games.

Bonus question: I’m not really a great quoter, I only have a few quotes I really like and use a lot, but I think only one of them is from a Dirty Harry movie; a quote about opinions that I’m sure most of you have already heard. If I had to mention movie origins for quotes, I’d say old French movies with dialogue written by Michel Audiard, probably the best movie dialogue writer ever worldwide. Les Tontons Flingueurs, for instance; great movie with memorable dialogue and actors. Have a great weekend and let us know what you’re up to in the comments, MOP readers.
