The studio behind multiplayer sandbox Terraria has, as we put it, spent the last eight years trying to stop making Terraria, but fortunately for us, it just can’t quit. Its final update was supposed to be Journey’s End in 2020 – it’s right there in the title! – but as multiplayer fans know, it’s continued with updates anyway, and last fall, it even announced crossplay and spectator modes are en route for consoles at some point this year.
Now, Re-Logic has released a state-of-the-game missive for the cutesy sandbox. “What started as a ‘quick and short’ update to add our side of the Terraria x Dead Cells crossover content has morphed into a much larger update that we have been working on for over a year now,” the studio says. “The team is currently going over more plans and ideas in regards to what else might make it into 1.4.5, timelines, etc.”
The studio also says the game is getting Korean and Japanese localization, a revamped character creation screen, new world seeds, summoner enhancements, more transformations (velociraptors!), new music, new items, fishing additions, filters, and of course, the aforementioned spectator mode and crossplay, though crossplay is meant for after 1.4.5. Even tModLoader got an update this past week. Sure would be nice if every game that stopped updates had updates like this, eh?
