Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones has launched its 1.3 patch, with PvP and seasonal changes aplenty: In fact, the game has extended season one by a full week, though it’s not clear whether that’ll delay future seasons by the same length or just shorten season two.
The patch also turns back on group text and voice chats (which had previously caused stability problems), allows players to flag for open-world PvP before entering maps, tweaks matchmaking to attempt to pair player types, boosts legendary heist spawning, rebalanced the La Peste encounter, and adjusted Cutthroat Cargo for PvP. You guys, flagging is complicated.
In other Skull and Bones news, Ubisoft launched its Waves of Change charity event yesterday. Running through the end of March, the event allows players to propel Ubisoft to donate to a good cause, to the tune of €300K.
“Ubisoft is partnering with Oceana, the largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation, whose mission is to protect and restore our oceans by leading strategic, directed campaigns that achieve measurable outcomes. […] For a limited two-week period, all players, including those currently on the free trial, will automatically join this event, facing off against Skirmishers, Headhunters, and the notorious Pirate Lord Philippe La Peste. Ubisoft will contribute to Oceana based on the number of defeats inflicted upon these adversaries. The daily progress towards the 300,000 € donation target will be monitored and displayed on a dedicated webpage, allowing players to track their contributions. Participants will also earn in-game rewards – the Pioneer set – as a token of appreciation for their involvement.”
