The Daily Grind: How important is music to your MMO experience?

It’s hard for me to fathom going anywhere or doing anything without music as part of the background of my life. That’s certainly true for my MMO gaming experiences, where I either pump up that in-game soundtrack or play some of my own tunes while I grind mobs and check off those quest objectives.

I also feel ultra-immersed in a setting when I come across players jamming in impromptu or planned band sessions, especially in a fantasy world. There’s something about a casual encounter with a bard that sets the mood.

Today, let’s talk about how music impacts your MMO experience in any way, shape, or form that it appears. Do you like having it in your player housing? Is having a constant stream of music playing in the background a staple of your gaming experience? Are you one of those in-game musicians who entertain others?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
