Last July we all got a blast from MMORPG gaming’s past when 2003’s Endless Online came back from the dead thanks to efforts from original developer Vult-R. With nearly a year since that revelation — and a reminder from the MMORPG subreddit — we’ve circled back to see how things are doing for this lesser-known classic and we’re happy to report that it looks as if things are humming.
The game has seen bi-monthly updates throughout 2024 so far, which have introduced things like additional classes for level 10 characters, new regions such as the Josand desert zone and the Waku Wilds jungle, returning content in the form of Monkey Island and the Ancient Continent, and multiple new quests all throughout each update that add new items, new instruments, and more.
As far as the game’s population, things appear to be pretty respectable for an old isometric blast from the past, with 149 players online at the time of this post’s writing. All in all it looks like Endless Online is living up to its namesake while expanding in a lot of ways.
