If you, like me, experienced a difficult time logging in and staying logged into FFXIV last night, you’re not alone. Square Enix confirmed that its popular MMORPG suffered network technical difficulties due to DDoS attacks for much of yesterday, May 6th.
“We are currently experiencing technical difficulties due to a DDoS attack,” the studio said. “We are investigating the attack and taking countermeasures. Additional information will be provided as the situation develops.”
This attack, which happened before the game went down for a lengthy maintenance window yesterday evening, affected players around the globe for much of the day. The game is back up as of Tuesday morning, but some players report ongoing issues that are affecting the game’s performance.
