Hearthstone launches a new mini-set, readies new twist season, and continues card balancing

Apparently Dr. Boom is getting kind of jelly of Professor Whizbang being the premiere tinkerer in the canon of Hearthstone, and he’s going to do something about it. That’s the tenuous explanation for the digital CCG’s newly released mini-set known as Dr. Boom’s Incredible Inventions. Any reason to add more cards to the game, right?

This new mini-set features the Gigantify mechanic, which creates an eight mana 8/8 copy of whatever card has the keyword in a player’s hand the moment it hits the field. The mini-set has a total of 38 new cards that can be purchased in specific packs or as a 72-card bundle.

In addition to the new mini-set, the latest patch to the game has applied a couple of balance adjustments that target Deepminer Brann and Saddle Up. Blizzard explains that these changes are meant to address “a couple power and playrate outliers” that have cropped up since its last major balance update, while further hotfix balancing is planned during the game’s usual window.

Finally, the patch loads up the next twist season called Whizbang’s Heroes, which will let players select pre-built decks of heroes, each with their own hero power and unique passive effect. This new twist season will launch sometime in June.
