If you’re a big enough fan of the Viking survival sandbox Valheim that you’d be willing to crowdfund a tabletop board game version, you’re soon going to be getting your very specific opportunity: Iron Gate has confirmed that it will be working with partners to create Valheim: The Board Game, with a crowdfunding drive on Gamefound coming this September.

“The Valheim board game will be designed for 1-4 players that will take on the roles of mighty viking heroes, working together to prove their worth to the Allfather as they adventure through Valheim. The realm is hostile and unforgiving, forcing players to band together to survive as they explore the landscape, face environmental hazards and monsters, and topple bosses in order to succeed.”

The board game edition of the survivalbox comes from Mood Publishing and game designer Ole Steiness, whose design credits include the board game version of Deep Rock Galactic. This new game plans to bring many of the PC title’s gameplay loops to tabletop, including four biomes, monsters to fend off, resources to gather, and challenging boss fights, while figurines and artwork seek to increase player immersion.

More details are likely to come later, but the devs at Iron Gate have playtested a prototype of the game and express their general excitement at the board game edition and how it replicates the early access PC game. For now, there’s a teaser video for a board game (yes really) below.
