Puzzle-filled MMO Islands of Insight will get its offline mode July 9

This past May we got word about another previously always online title getting an offline mode: Islands of Insight, the self-described “shared world puzzle game” that basically looked to be a multiplayer version of Myst only with floating islands instead of multiple ages and villainous brothers. Wait, was that a spoiler? For a 31 year-old game? Woops.

Anyway, developer Lunarch Studios and publisher Behaviour Interactive have confirmed a hard date for offline play’s release, and that date is Tuesday, July 9th. This means the game will effectively get a single-player mode, with some adjustments to puzzles or outright removal of puzzles in some cases, but overall a way to still experience the game’s original beats while making it “a more flexible gaming experience” according to the devs.

Islands of Insight was previously completely free to own for one day only, June 26th, but for those who missed out on the freebie, it will remain on sale at a 50% discount during the Steam Summer Sale, and its free demo is still available for those who are curious to try out this one. Before it goes multiplayer optional, anyway.
