The Daily Grind: What parts of your MMO do you overthink?

While I do love how MMORPGs encourage my imagination, sometimes I find that thinking and analyzing a title too much can lead to unanswerable questions that break immersion a bit.

I can’t help but be incredulous that people in these worlds could build impossibly big and tall structures without modern construction methods (“A wizard did it,” a voice comes from the back of the class). In WoW, I look at those Undead abominations with their open-to-the-world torsos and start wondering if infection or bird nesting might become a problem. And LOTRO’s polite fiction of “morale” instead of hit points leads to all sorts of ridiculous circumstances if you really look at it.

Do you ever do this? Do you ever overthink parts of your MMO, and if so, what do you come up with?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
