If you’re the sort of person who was intrigued at the prospect of playing Dual Universe but were not thrilled by the thought of dealing with FFA PvP or all of the resource requirements to build anything, then Novaquark has some good news for you: The sandbox will soon be releasing a standalone version that lets players fully customize their own private servers.

The new client, called myDU, will allow players to either create or connect to other players’ private servers, meaning that players can adjust multiple parameters such as whether to turn PvP off or on, the ability to create unlimited resources, or to play the game solo or with a select group of friends. Best of all, myDU will not require a subscription to play, though those who do want to connect to the regular MMO of DU will need to subscribe to do so.

This new standalone game is scheduled to arrive “in the coming weeks,” with a vague target of sometime in mid-August. More details will likely arrive before then, but at least now gun shy fans can know that a new option to play the sandbox is coming.
