Enshrouded blew up the sandbox world at the top of the year, roping in a million players and then following it up with dungeons, musical instruments, and a juicy roadmap. This week, Keen Games has dropped the early access multiplayer survivalbox’s third major patch, Back to the Shroud. Perhaps the most interesting addition is a new range of difficulty settings.
“We’ve heard your feedback, some players seek a tougher challenge, but others want to focus more on building and adventuring,” the studio says. “It’s tough to make the game equally fun for every group of players, as Enshrouded already has a broad audience, which is why we’re introducing adjustable difficulty settings. We prepared several difficulty settings to follow these themes, they affect both single and multiplayer, and also dedicated servers and we’d love to hear your feedback to further refine them.”
The new difficulty settings include a default meant for first-time players, a relaxed mode for people who want “base-building and light-hearted adventuring,” a hard mode for increased aggression from mobs, and a survival preset for the hardest of hardcore survival fiends. There’s also a custom setting so you can tweak up to 30 game settings to make the sandbox perfect for you.
The patch also includes new props, character customization options, and several quality-of-life perks. In its press release on the update, Keen also gave an impressive number: Nearly 3 million players have dipped into the game since launch.
