LOTRO dev addresses PvP (im)balance after Update 41’s glory-seeking feature

The small incredibly vocal PvP community in Lord of the Rings Online has a few words for Standing Stone Games after the studio attempted to inject some life into the side system with a glory-seeking bounty mechanic and PvMP reward track last month. Instead of being satisfied, these players are taking the studio to task for what they perceive as an imbalance among the entire gameplay mode, in particular the frailty of the “creep” side that’s preventing players from embracing the faction.

SSG’s Orion responded to the complaint over the weekend, saying, “We are working on it. It requires time and resources repurposed for other game priorities.”

He went into further detail about how SSG has been improving the PvP game in the past two years and struggled with getting this update out the door:

“Our goals and plans at the beginning of the year were very different. Monster play changed to accommodate shifting priorities for the game as resources moved to meet the new requests and demands. Rather than abandon the update to MP, I decided to push forward with the new reward track and glory-seeking. These were originally planned to coincide with other aspects of the updates pushed to accommodate other priorities for the game. Resources and disciplines are not always shared, and the resource needed to address some of the core deficiencies facing the creep side was prioritized to a different priority.”
