Last week Old School RuneScape pointed out how results for the recently completed Deadman Apocalypse competition were arriving late as a result of some discovered foul play that ended up souring the final results. Those results have finally come, along with a reckoning for those who cheated during the event.

A total of 204 accounts have been hit with permanent bans for “various offenses” within the game, while another 500 have had their names changed and those previous names made unavailable, and an undisclosed number of clan names and friend chats have been closed and their names made unavailable.

The announcement of Deadman’s winners was further closed by Jagex promising to “remain vigilant against bad actors” while also talking up recent successful community protecting initiatives such as the push against “deathmatching” being used for RMT.

In other OSRS news, the MMORPG’s weekly update has a new Slayer boss to fight in the form of Araxxor, which features a small bit of wiggle room in terms of fight difficulty thanks to a mechanic that involves hatching spiders; players can either let the tiny ones spawn for more Slayer kills and a harder fight or they can destroy the egg sacs beforehand to make the fight easier but a bit longer. Jagex is also calling attention to an upcoming Summer Summit livestream on September 7th that will map out the MMORPG’s next content updates.

Finally, RuneScape has primarily made tweaks to things in this week’s patch, with a focus on mining and smithing updates, engine fixes, and the removal of an erroneous restriction on creating certain items with Divination. Jagex is also preparing players for its September 16th Ode of the Devourer quest by discussing what prerequisities need to be cleared beforehand.
