World of Warcraft DPS players stage group finder protests over recent balance changes

When World of Warcraft kicked off its latest patch, it was ostensibly focused on the MMORPG’s 20th anniversary, which is pretty understandable. However, there are a subset of players who are focusing instead on the patch’s balance changes, and they’re pretty unhappy with what they see – to the point they’re making their displeasure known via the group finder tool.

The majority of the consternation falls on the DPS side of things, particularly in the case of some of the lower-rated DPS specs like most Warlocks, Shadow Priests, or Fury Warriors. That’s important because DPS players who want to get into some of the harder content might find themselves lacking groups to join because group leaders follow the meta.

As a result, DPS players have taken to expressing their anger by forming dungeon finder groups and titling them “protest” with group notes that explain their complaints about the patch. Of course, in an MMO with millions of players, it can be hard to catch Blizzard’s attention with a protest, but the changes have been perceptibly strong enough that DPSers are fed up.
