World of Warcraft’s newest map, Siren Isle, will eventually allow some flight with tons of rep and token farming

Update: Fresh datamining of the latest PTR build released just after we published this renders it all moot, so flight folks can rejoice: Apparently, there will indeed be a quest that teaches you how to fly in the zone when it’s not beset by storms. The original article follows.

Siren Isle, the upcoming zone with World of Warcraft’s Patch 11.0.7, is going to be an adjustment in more ways than one. It’s clear that Blizzard wants players to encounter this zone in a different way than The War Within’s other regions, as the island will not allow flying mounts.

This is due to a “High Winds” debuff that nixes flying no matter where you are on the relatively small isle. Wowhead notes that we don’t know for certain if this is a permanent restriction or if there are ways to overcome it as some datamining suggests. In any case, it’ll be a good excuse to break out your fanciest ground-only mount and use grappling hooks to get up to high places.

Siren Isle will also be notable for the fact that many of its repeatable missions offer the anniversary Bronze Celebration tokens and reputation boosts for all of the primary factions, making this a great place to farm for those.
