Nightingale hasn’t had the best fall: It’s gone through two rounds of layoffs and a massive do-over, all as Inflexion Games has maintained that is has no intention of closing the game down and is indeed continuing to work on it, albeit with a presumably smaller team, given all those layoffs.
And that does seem to be the case, as evinced by the latest dev video. CEO Aaryn Flynn begins by discussing last week’s test realm update, which is expected to finish up the test process and move on to the live early access servers as of tomorrow, November 20th. The patch addresses multiple bugs and annoyances; for example, hunger no longer kills you, though it makes you vulnerable. The patch also includes a boss rush feature against endless waves of baddies, which make use of minor realm cards; new weapons, including the rapier, the launcher, and magic arrows for the bow; and frame rates improvements.
Locally hosted multiplayer is also being tested right now but won’t make it into this week’s update, but it’s expected by the end of the year. And Nightingale City itself is still on deck for next year. Onward and upward.
